One day to go!

Tomorrow is the big day! After nearly a year long engagement and being together for over four years, Matt and Megan are getting married! Wedding week is going well - no major issues so far (which is hopefully the trend!). Families have arrived and today friends from far away are expected in the Pacific Northwest!

Now, if only we could give them a sunny welcome instead of the usual Seattle weather, that would be great!

Practice run for the flower girl

Our first wedding guest have arrived! Matt's sister Maria and her family from London came early to travel around Washington and see the sights. First things first though, our flower girl Hannah wanted to try on her dress and the flower basket. She took a couple test laps down our hall. Maybe she'll be running down the isle....Hannah goes for a practice run down the hall!

After the formalities, we hit the sights of Seattle. We checked out the Ballard Locks to see the salmon fish run. We were in for a treat because a seal was there soaking up some sun and really big fish!

J.J. & Shelly's wedding day!

We went to Cannon Beach this past weekend for J.J. & Shelly's wedding! It was a beautiful ceremony and a great party! It was fun to see a lot of our friends from Idaho! We're now getting really excited about our wedding which is just around the corner!

J.J. & Shelly share a twirl around the dance floor.

This little guy got a little bored during the very sweet and touching ceremony.

Shelly's sister gave a beautiful reading during the ceremony and a very sweet toast! It was a beautiful weekend.

Tourist for a day

Today, Matt and I took a move from Shawn and Sara's play book and we were tourists in our own city. We've had a book on Seattle walking tours since we moved here but have never really used it. Matt picked out the Capitol Hill walking tour. We started out in Volunteer Park on a relatively nice Seattle morning. While the walk said nothing about the Conservatory, we started out in there first.
I love the cacti room (it reminds me of my time in southern Arizona), but the pretty and unique blossoms around the place are also very beautiful.

Once we got started on the actual walk, we strolled through the park and out into in the neighborhood. We checked out some beautiful historic houses that have been around since Seattle's booming days. Now of course, they are inhabited by folks who are probably doctors, lawyers or independently wealthy. We strolled past Cornish College buildings, the D.A.R. and on to Broadway. However, our book is now a little outdated thanks to all the redevelopment on the main drag. Towards the end of the walk, we turned onto Millionaire's Row. And the street lived up to it's name. (Note: no pics of the big beautiful houses, I didn't want to be that touristy, plus some folks were home.). As we entered the park again, we started the climb up the water towers for the view.

With 100 steps to the top, it was a hike. But the view was worth it!
All in all, a great walking tour and we've already picked out our next on: the Washington Arboretum.

What to do in Seattle?

It's getting close to the big day and while Matt and I'll want to hang out and visit with everyone, you'll probably have plenty of time to see the sites in Seattle! The Seattle Times published this article with all sorts of info on fun activities! Enjoy and have fun!

One month to go!

The big day is only one month away! It's crazy....who ever thought this day would come?! We're busy going through the to-do list and checking things off! We want to be relaxed and ready to play when people come into town!

Speaking of coming to town...if you haven't made hotel reservations yet, you may want to look into it! Cruise season has started here in Seattle and the hotels downtown book up quickly as passengers get ready to set sail from Seattle! There's also lots of fun stuff to do while you're in town, so check out our list of favorite Seattle activities. (The list is on the side bar to your right...)

See you in a month!
